Empressr is an online web app where students can easily create, store, and publish presentations. While students do have easy access to a similar program through their google accounts, Empressr does offer some features not found there, including easy ways to record voice overs, embed audio and video, and some extra transitions.
Project-Based Learning: While we see a lot of Powerpoint presentations, using Empressr’s extra features can help move a student beyond the basic ideas of a powerpoint. Additionally, the record voice-over part can force students to think more critically about the information they are sharing – and the way they do it. It can serve as a nice reminder that Powerpoint slides are a way to enhance a presentation, not deliver information.
